The VidTape Program - V1.0B

Description

The VidTape program is used to log and keep track of your collection of video tapes. It also allows you to track an unlimited number of scenes on each tape. In addition to your source tapes, you can log video programs you have produced and keep track of the sales of each program. You can also log one time projects, which don't involve multiple sales.

Click on the 'Sample' button to left for sample of the help files, which shows the main screen, plus some of the primary data input forms.

Note: This is only a beta version. It does have bugs and deficiencies, some that I am aware of, and probably lots that I'm not. Please contact me about any problems you encounter and enhancements you would like to see.

Hardware/Software requirements

• PC compatible
• Pentium 100 MHz minimum
• 16 Mo RAM
• Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT 4.x, XP or later.

VidTape Download and Installation

Download

The VidTape program can be downloaded by clicking on the file "VidTapeProduct.exe" which is shown below. This is a self extracting executable file which will unzip the internal installation files. When clicked, you will get the option to either 'save' the file locally to your disk, or open it. It is recommended that you save the file first, and then run it locally.

Note that this file is 4.4 Megs large, and thus could take a while to download, depending on the type of internet connection you have.

Installation

There are two methods you may recede the VidTape program. One is via a self extracting executable file called VidTapeProduct.exe which can be downloaded as described above. The other is via a CD (which can be ordered from Hodag Video Productions) which has several files, one of which is called Setup.exe.

• Self Extracting file: VidTapeProduct.exe
  1. Run the program VidTapeProduct.exe, either by double clicking on it, or by using the run command from the Start menu.
  2. You will be asked where you would like to extract the files. Specify a temporary location.
  3. You will also have the option to run the program 'Setup.exe' after the files are extracted. Leave the box checked if you want to run 'setup.exe'. If you don't then uncheck the box.
  4. If you run setup.exe after the files are extracted, just follow the instructions from the Installsheild assistant.
  5. Delete the temporary files plus the file 'VidTapeProduct.exe'.

 

• CD with Setup.exe
  1. Run setup.exe and follow the instructions from the Installsheild assistant.
  2. If you had copied the setup files to your hard disk, you can now delete them.

The default folder for installation is: C:\Program Files\VidTape. The default program group is: VidTape.

Starting VidTape

• From the Windows Start menu, go to Programs, then select VidTape.
• You can copy the VidTape icon on the Start menu to your desktop by dragging the icon with your mouse to your desktop while holding down the 'ctrl' key. Then to start VidTape, just double click on the desktop icon

Uninstall

• From the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs.
• On the Install/Uninstall tab, highlight VidTape in the list of programs
• Then click Add/Remove.
• The program and all of its components will be removed.

Purchasing this program & Registration

Shareware

This program is a 'Shareware' program. This means that you can download and use this program without having to pay for it. If you find you don't like it, or find it is not useful, then you can just uninstall it. You have lost nothing. However, if you find you can use the VidTape program, then you are expected to pay for it. For further information about 'Shareware' click here.

There are no limits put on unregistered programs. I don't have a timer which disables the program after so many days, and I don't limit the features of unregistered programs. I rely on users to be honest. If your not, then so be it.
