A New England Adventure - Oct 2009

These are pictures from a great 8 days of hiking in New England with Rickey Shortt and Tommy Bell. We summated three high points - Mt Washington in New Hampshire, Mount Mansfield in Vermont, and Mt Marcy in New York, plus numerous other peaks in all three states. Mount Washington had 3 to 4 inches of rime ice and 35 to 45 mile per hour winds. It rained a bunch but our last day on Mt Marcy was beautiful (although it started out in the rain and snow). Just like our last day, it rained a good portion of our trip, but that didn't stop us from racking up the miles. We did have a few days of sunshine, plus some really nice views of great fall foliage.

Two days - Mt Ascutney, Queechee Gorge, then White Face Mtn, Passaconaway, and Wonalancet Peak
Unknown Pond, The Horn, the Bulge, Mt Cabot, and finally the great Mt Washington
Day 5 and 6 was in Vermont. First was Mt Hunger and then Mt Mansfield
Our 6th day was in New York, climbing Catamount Mountain and Mt Baxter. It didn't rain at all, but it was cloudy all day.
One hike - 17 miles over 11.5 hours. Tallest Mtn in NY, Mr Marcy. Also climbed Gray Mountain and Skylite Mountain
