Our backpacking trip into the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho consisted of 4 days and 3 nights. We hiked a loop of about 25 miles and climbed two mountains. The first was El Capitan, a sharp peak at 9,901 feet. The second was Snowy Sides at 10,651 feet. Our trip in the Sawtooths was supposed to be 5 nights, but was cut short because of heavy smoke from a forest fire.
